‘The Truth Will Set You Free: Finding Healing through
Racial Reconciliation’
A Candid Discussion with Professor Paul Reeve
- Speaker: Paul Reeve is an author and professor at the University of Utah who has spent the bulk of his career focused on issues of race and the Church. He recently wrote “Let’s Talk About Race and Priesthood,” which
was published by Deseret Book. (If you purchase the book before coming to the event, he will sign it for you.) - Purpose: For all members to consider race in the context of the history of the Church and the recent guidance from President Nelson: “The Creator of us all calls on each of us to abandon attitudes of prejudice against any
group of God’s children. Any of us who has prejudice toward another race needs to repent!” - Who Is Invited: This event is appropriate for all members regardless of race or ethnicity. Many young adults, single or married, may find the discussion particularly helpful and interesting in light of modern discourse about race.
- Why Attend: We know of historical examples in our society and among Church members of improper beliefs about race. It is our duty is to heal racial discord among us and join in unity at Church and in our community with individuals of African heritage and others. Truth is a foundation for healing. This devotional is designed to present truth about the past and present to help us in our quest to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be
one.
