Denton Texas Stake to Host Welcome for Elder James B and Jennie Martino

For one night only, all are invited to join for an evening of spirituality, stories, and experience a world of service as the Denton Texas Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints welcomes home Elder James B. Martino and his wife, Sister Jennie Martino. The event will be held at 3000 Old North Rd, Denton, TX 76209 on October 10th at 6:00 p.m; for those who would prefer remote participation, the event will also be streamed live at www.dentonstake.com.

Elder James B. Martino was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 4, 2009. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Sixth Quorum of the Seventy in the North America Southwest Area. Elder Martino has served as a member and President of the Central America Area Presidency and as a member and President of the Europe East Area Presidency. He has also served in the Missionary, Priesthood, and Family Departments at Church Headquarters. He most recently served as President of the North America Southeast Area.

Elder Martino received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Brigham Young University in 1974. After graduation, he began working for apparel company Russell-Newman, Inc., eventually rising to serve as President and CEO of the company from 1989 to 2000. He then served as chairman of the company from 2003 until his retirement in 2009. Since joining the Church in 1968, Elder Martino has served in numerous Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Guatemala-El Salvador Mission, seminary teacher, bishop, stake president, and mission president.

Born in Denton, Texas, on March 28, 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, Jennie Marie Barron, in August 1973. They are the parents of five children. Sister Martino has served with her husband in all parts of the world, and in addition to being a stalwart companion in every assignment, she is the one that has been the glue to keep the family close in these years when they have been away from Texas. Sister Martino also graduated from Brigham Young University and has held callings such as ward Primary president, Relief Society president, and Young Women president, as well as several stake callings.

Their greatest joy is to serve the Lord together.
