Local Churches Unite to Serve on National Day of Service

The Alliance Texas Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints partnered with the Fellowship United Methodist Church in Trophy Club for the National 9-11 Day of Service to purchase supplies and build hygiene kits for Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth and Rio Valley Relief Project.

Featured on JustServe.org, the project drew broad support from the community, with the Marriot Hotel in North Fort Worth and local dentists Bryan Wall and Valor Dental joining over four hundred volunteers in the gymnasium of The Church of Jesus Christ, a space almost too small to hold [the volunteers], “a good problem to have,” said JustServe Specialist Jennifer Hutchins. “We built 2,109 hygiene kits and made 447 cards for the two organizations.”

The multifaith event highlighted the growing cooperative efforts of local churches, uniting to serve the community. Youth from both partnering organizations came early to act as door greeters and stockers and oversee the card-making. Nineteen missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also swelled the ranks.
