Finding ‘Greater Love’ Through Jesus Christ This Easter Season

Prosper, TX | April 2, 2025 – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is focusing on the “greater love” of Christ this Easter season, a phrase from John 15:13 in the New Testament, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

On Palm Sunday, April 13, the Prosper congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ invite friends, neighbors, and community members to begin Holy Week together with a devotional rejoicing in the gift of the Savior’s Atonement. The program, held at 522 N. Teel Parkway in Prosper, will include music, videos, and art dedicated to Jesus Christ. Guests can choose to attend either at 5 p.m. or 7 p.m.

Church President Russell M. Nelson shared on social media: “This Easter season, I invite you to remember that the Atonement of Jesus Christ does indeed include His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and His death on the cross at Calvary—but both of these great sacrifices would be incomplete without the crowning act of His glorious Resurrection.

It was at the Garden Tomb that the atoning work of Jesus Christ was fully realized and His victory over sin and death became truly complete. When we talk of the greater love of Jesus Christ for each of us, I testify that Jesus Christ’s Resurrection is the ultimate expression of that love.”

The First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ, Russell M Nelson, Dallin H. Oaks and Henry B Eyring, released the following Easter letter:

“During this joyful Easter season, we join with faithful followers of the Savior in celebrating the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Resurrection is a gift to all of Heavenly Father’s children who have ever lived on this earth.

We testify that Jesus Christ gives rest to those who are “heavy laden” (Matthew 11:28). He knows “how to succor his people according to their infirmities” (Alma 7:12) because He took upon Himself our pains and sins. “He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows … and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:4-5).”
