When Forney resident
Heather Earl lost two babies
to a rare genetic disease,
she never imagined that her
heartbreak would inspire
an entire community to give
back.
Both of Heather’s babies
were born with epidermoly-
sis bullosa (EB) — a painful
condition that makes the
skin as delicate as butterfly
wings. After years of grief,
Heather prayed for a way
to turn her pain into pur-
pose. That prayer became
the spark for Pajama Pages,
a project close to her heart
Forney Mom’s Pajama Drive Inspires
Local Youth To Give Back
that collects new pajamas,
stuffed animals, and books
for hospitalized children in
Dallas each Thanksgiving.
This year’s donations will
go to Dallas Scottish Rite for
Children.
What began with a small
red wagon of donations 16
years ago has grown into
a drive delivering between
$10,000 and $15,000 worth
of gifts to children every
holiday season.
This year, the spirit of
service has reached even
further. Several Forney-
area youth groups have
joined forces to make Pa-
jama Pages their service
project—collecting dona-
tions in colorful boxes and
encouraging others to get
involved.
“When I walked into
church and saw all the box-
es lined up, I felt so much
joy,” Heather said. “One
of the youth told me how
much happiness this project
brings her. It’s amazing to
see their hearts in action.”
Heather personally deliv-
ers the donations around
Thanksgiving — the same
day she lost her first child,
Shealyn. What was once a
painful anniversary has be-
come a time to share light
and comfort with others.
“Each pajama, stuffy,
and book represents love,”
Heather said. “It’s proof that
beauty can come from bro-
kenness, and that serving
others brings real healing.”
As Pajama Pages contin-
ues to grow, Heather hopes
the Forney community will
join her mission to spread
comfort, joy, and hope—one
pair of pajamas at a time.
