The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been building temples since the 1830s. Temples are considered houses of God, places of holiness and peace separate from the world’s preoccupations. They provide a place where Church members can make formal promises and commitments to God to follow His son, Jesus Christ, and live righteous lives. God promises to bless and strengthen those who stay true to these sacred promises. Learn more about the temples located in North Texas below.
The Denton Stake hosted a community Build-a-Bed in conjunction with Sleep In Heavenly Peace - TX, Dallas/Fort Worth. This was the charity's largest and most successful project to date, with over 300 volunteers from across the county providing beds for children in need. Way to go, Denton!

The Giving Machines are back! Last holiday season, these big red vending machines made their first appearance in the DFW metroplex.
Youth from the Corsicana congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints decided they wanted to make the 90-mile trip to visit the Texas Giving Machine.
Despite the distance, they found a way to contribute.
To raise money for their donation, they harvested 170 pounds of pecans on a beautiful fall day.
Stocked with cards reflecting needs of selected nonprofits, the front display of the machine allows donors to choose what they want to giveβfrom baby supplies to shoes to soccer balls to bus passes. And this year for the first timeβa goat.
The machines arrive:
November 22 in Grapevine,
December 7 in Frisco,
December 20 in McKinney.
At each location, visitors will be treated to entertainment between the operating hours of 9 am to 9 pm. Donation amounts range from $5 to $150 (for that goat, of course). 100% of funds donated go to the participating charities.
Corsicana Bishop Bruce Tetreault said, βThanks for everybodyβs help with our Texas Giving Machine Project. We have amazing youth and leaders!β
There will be plenty of time for donors across the metroplex to share in his groupsβ enthusiasm.
In 2023, the DFW machines raised over $630,000βand over $10.4 million globally. This year promises to be even better, with those
pecans blessing the youth as well as the recipients. ... See MoreSee Less
