Prosper JustServe Volunteers Address Food Insecurity and Foster Care Needs
Prosper, TX – Recently a group of women gathered to serve the ongoing needs of two local nonprofits focused on children in surrounding communities, LovePacs PCG and CASA of Collin County. These women donated fabric and sewed 30 pillowcases for foster care children while also collecting nearly 100 boxes of cereal to be shared with families experiencing food insecurity.
The pillowcases will be distributed by CASA to foster care children, who may often be moving from house to house and have no luggage and few belongings. The pillowcases can help hold their possessions for moving and be an object of comfort during a trying time.
Wendy Osborn, who recently moved to North Texas from South Africa by way of Georgia, shared her feelings about serving together: “It is always wonderful to be able to share talents while serving our Heavenly Father’s children who are in need. It warms my soul.”
Meanwhile, the Walnut Grove High School tennis team also served with love, responding to the call for restocking some of the shelves for LovePacs PCG. Together they shopped for and donated 31 cereal boxes and 868 packets of oatmeal. The breakfast donations will help feed hungry children over upcoming school breaks when federally assisted school meals are not available.
Service builds a spirit of community, and these two groups of JustServe volunteers made a great team in providing relief to their neighbors!
