TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – The East Texas Food Bank received a 15 thousand pound meat donation Thursday from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
The donation included ground beef, pork roast and beef roast.
East Texas Food Bank Executive Director David Emerson shares that this comes as the rising cost of meat puts financial pressure on families in need.
“Meat is one of the hardest things for us to have donated to us and to procure across the country,” Emerson said. “Obviously the cost of beef is really expensive right now, and this is a very generous gift from the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.”
Starting next week, the meat will be distributed among the food banks partners across East Texas.
Emerson says the meat will provide 12 thousand meals.
