North Tarrant County Congregations Win GRACE Grapevine’s Volunteer of the Year Award
Last Friday, GRACE Grapevine presented The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints congregations in North Tarrant County with their Volunteer of the Year Award at their annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. GRACE CEO, Rebecca Cox, presented the award and said that members of the Church “are the embodiment of hard work, commitment, and a servant heart to do good in the community. From working in the pantry to special events, this group shows us that community services builds unity in our communities. Through their Just Serve program, they have assisted GRACE in breaking down the sold out GRACE Gala in record time (this is usually a task for the Southlake youth!); they were instrumental in cleaning up after last year’s Designer Bags and Bingo and are a godsend in our seasonal programs. From taking on our summertime Feed Our Kids, to the Grocery Giveaway, to bringing some of the largest groups to assist moving in and out our Christmas Cottage, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is only a phone call away and ready to help.”
Cox also mentioned in her remarks how honored GRACE was to be part of the Texas Giving Machine last holiday season. GRACE was one of the eight local charities which benefited from almost $1 million dollars in donations. She said that she was touched especially by the donations that came from the Giving Machines, as they represented so many people giving small amounts at a time. The Texas Giving Machine raised over 54 thousand dollars for GRACE during the few weeks the machines were in the DFW area.
Cox concluded her remarks by saying, “Thank you, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for sharing your light with GRACE!”
Members from several congregations were on hand to receive the award.
