Over 850 young adults gathered at the September Dallas-Fort Worth YSA Conference to make a difference through service! Working together with 7 amazing organizations on 9 impactful projects, they were able to:

✨ Assemble and decorate 750 busy books for children in waiting rooms with Catholic Charities Diocese of Fort Worth, Inc.

✨ Write 1,000 notes of encouragement for hospitalized kids at Cook Children's Medical Center

✨ Create 50 letters and paracord lanyards for troops and heroes through Operation Gratitude

✨ Tie 100 fleece blankets for children at Children's Medical Center

✨ Prepare 300 sack lunches and 100 food boxes for those in need with the The Salvation Army of North Texas

✨ Sew 70 reusable grocery bags for Christ's Haven For Children

✨ Assemble 100 hygiene kits for refugees with Action Alliance International, Inc.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grapevine and Collleyville recently chose to honor the 9/11 National Day of Service by creating hygiene kits for long-term clients living at the The Salvation Army of North Texas. They gathered items and then assembled the kits, then finished off the kit by adding homemade cards of encouragement.

September 21st welcomed another biennial (every 2 yrs) Emergency Preparedness Fair in Plano! One of the best ones in North Texas!

The event is presented by the Plano Stake (city-wide Church, composed of several congregations called “wards”) of The Church of Jesus Christ for the whole community and includes several classes and presentations intended to help us each prepare for the time when emergency situations may pop up such as loss of employment, a natural disaster, health emergencies, and more.

Organizations from the community also participated, including Collin County Medical Reserve Corps, City of Plano Emergency Management and more. Attendees enjoyed many helpful classes and presentations (swipe to see many of them listed).

A huge “Thank you!” Goes out to all who made this possible through their help and volunteering!

¡El 21 de septiembre dio la bienvenida a otra Feria bienal (cada 2 años) de Preparación para Emergencias en Plano! ¡Uno de los mejores en el norte de Texas!

El evento es presentado por la Estaca Plano (Iglesia de toda la ciudad, compuesta por varias congregaciones llamadas "barrios") de La Iglesia de Jesucristo para toda la comunidad e incluye varias clases y presentaciones destinadas a ayudarnos a prepararnos para el momento en que puedan surgir situaciones de emergencia, como la pérdida del empleo, un desastre natural, emergencias de salud, y más.

También participaron organizaciones de la comunidad, como el Cuerpo de Reserva Médica del Condado de Collin, el Manejo de Emergencias de la Ciudad de Plano y más. Los asistentes disfrutaron de muchas clases y presentaciones útiles (deslice para ver muchas de ellas en la lista).

Un enorme "¡Gracias!" a todos los que hicieron esto posible a través de su ayuda y voluntariado.
