Memorial Day weekend roared into the town of Bowie, Texas, with a confirmed EF-1 tornado producing winds up to 95 miles per hour. When it was all over Bowie, situated 65 miles northwest of Ft. Worth with a population of approximately 5,200, was shaken.

Answering the call for help, multiple North Texas stakes of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sent over 700 volunteers to aid in the clean-up. Donning the Church’s bright yellow “Helping Hands” t-shirts and aprons, the volunteers are credited with cleaning up nearly 300 homes and surveying many others for needed work.
